Getting started
- Install StatSheets from the Google Workspace Marketplace.
- In any spreadsheet, go to Extensions > StatSheets > Start. The first time, Google asks you to allow access.
- Pick a tool. Select your data in the sheet, then click Use selection next to the matching box, or type a range such as
A1:A20. - Tick Labels in first row if your selection includes column headers.
- Click Run. Results appear on a new sheet, or at the cell you chose.
Coming from Excel
Every tool uses the same name and fields as the Excel Analysis ToolPak dialog, and the output has the same rows and labels. Two deliberate differences, both noted in the output:
- t-Test: Unequal Variances uses the exact Welch degrees of freedom. Excel rounds them to a whole number, so its p-value can differ in the third or fourth decimal place.
- Covariance divides by n − 1 (sample covariance) by default. Excel divides by n. Tick Population to match Excel.
Missing values
Blank and text cells are skipped. Tools that pair values by row (paired t-test, correlation, covariance, regression) leave out any row missing a value and say how many rows were left out.
Pro
Pro adds assumption checks, a test advisor, effect sizes, post-hoc tests, nonparametric tests, chi-square, and a plain-English interpretation with an APA-style sentence under each result. Students in a class with a classroom license enter the class code from their instructor under Pro > Enter class code.
